Another security glitch has surfaced with Wyze webcams, echoing previous concerns. Wyze cofounder David Crosby has acknowledged that a significant number of users encountered a troubling scenario where they inadvertently glimpsed into strangers' properties due to a security lapse. According to Crosby, 'We have now identified a security issue where some users were able to see thumbnails of cameras that were not their own in the Events tab,' as reported by The Verge.

This incident comes after an extended outage attributed to AWS issues. Disturbingly, numerous Redditors reported instances where the Wyze app displayed images from unfamiliar cameras, ranging from glimpses of strangers' porches to scenes from entirely different time zones.

The gravity of the situation is evident from users' firsthand experiences shared on Reddit. One user lamented, 'One of my cameras notified me of an event from inside someone else's home with them in it walking around.' Another exclaimed, 'I just got a motion detection notification with a picture for someone else's house that isn't mine!'

Wyze users expressed similar concerns in the company's forums, with one user stating, 'I'm able to see a random camera I do not have permission for.' This sentiment was echoed by several others, indicating a widespread issue.

Despite the unsettling nature of these incidents, Wyze appears to be handling the situation with more transparency than in previous cases. Crosby has reassured users, stating, 'So far we've collected 14 reports of this happening, but we are currently identifying all affected users...We will also send notification to all Wyze users explaining what happened.'
